Whitney is back?

The last time we saw Whitney Houston on the tabloids she looked awful. She had the appearance of a badly worn out drug addict. Many of us thought she would be dead by now. Fortunately, it didn’t turn out that way. Somehow she pulled herself together and made it through rehab. Today she even released her comeback album I Look to You. Is she still good? How has she recovered? Well, see for yourself in Central Park tomorrow (Tuesday, 9/1).ilooktoyou280

We heard she is short on cash… So let’s just hope she doesn’t commit to an impossible tour that she isn’t ready for physically and mentally. We don’t want another star tragedy à la Michael Jackson…

Visit Egypt on Manhattan

Getting an individual performance by a goddess-like dancer at a secluded section of this exotic venue is only part of it.  And NO, we are not talking about a visit at a strip club here. In fact, Casa La Femme is just the opposite – a gracious restaurant with a traditional Egyptian Cuisine.

The place is what Rooftop NYC calls an excellent romantic date-spot! The combination of tented tables, amazing décor, grass-covered flooring, belly dancers and authentic dishes makes it a memorable experience. You feel as though you’ve taken a trip to another culture. The best thing is, you only have to make it down to West Village to dine like a Sultan. Don’t we love New York?

You want to watch Mad Men

1960′s. New York. Madison Avenue. This is where the advertising giants ruled the day, where they build the advertising industry from a field that was frowned upon to the multi-billion media mongul that it is today. It’s a fascinating world. These advertising guys called themselves Mad Men.

Enter a television show that is really creating some buzz: Mad Men. It airs on the AMC network, which you may not have heard of. But it has been winning a multitude of awards at the Golden Globes and the Emmys. And might I add, rightly deserved. It chronicles the story of Donald Draper, Creative Director at Sterling Cooper Advertising Agency. The show delves deep into the ins and outs of the advertising industry, but what makes the story so powerful is how it provides a social commentary on upper class life in the 1960s. You’ll see a world where drinking and smoking is a sign of class, where there are real desperate housewives in the suburbs, where adultery seems to be commonplace, where women are seen as sexual objects, and where *gasp* there are not computers!

Life in New York has evolved a long way since 50 years ago. But if you think the modern social life is crazy? Think again. Watch Mad Men and get in on the buzz. The First 2 Seasons is available on DVD, and the 3rd Season premieres August 16, 2009.
